[English]  Mathematics are used everywhere from applications in physics, biology, chemistry, informatics, social sciences and even in music. Let’s say that you can read these lines not because there is internet, but because we can make operations between binary numbers, so nowadays mathematics completely surround us without noticing.

You might not be aware, but there is an International Mathematical Olympiad since 1959 ( Yes!! As the sporting olympiad but with math) and Chihuahua has been particularly a winner because it is one of the states that has lots of students who have participated in worldwide events

Karina came to the Mexican Mathematical Olympiad in Chihuahua (OMMCH) when she was at elementary school and about 13 years old, in an area where most have been men simply go over the history: Euclid, Thales, Euler, Gauss, Fibonacci, Cantor... and in 2007 she made into the group of 6 students from across the state that go to the National Competition, as the only woman in the delegation, besides being the first woman to do so since 2004 and the first statewide elementary school student to achieve such an honor for Chihuahua. Today, three years later here she is expecting another state contest with big chances to repeat the National, and why not, made the International. I know the hard work you do training between 4 and 8 hours a day to solve problems in geometry, number theory and combinatory.

[Español]  Las matemáticas se emplean en todas partes, desde aplicaciones en física, biología, química, informática, sociales e incluso hasta en la música. Digamos que pueden estar leyendo estas líneas no gracias a que existe internet, sino a que existen operaciones entre números binarios, es decir, actualmente las matemáticas nos rodean por completo sin darnos cuenta.

Quizá no estén enterados, pero incluso existe una Olimpiada Internacional de Matemáticas desde 1959 (!!Si!! como las olimpiadas deportivas pero para mate) y Chihuahua ha sido particularmente ganador porque es uno de los estados que más alumnos a aportado para participar en eventos mundiales.

AKarina llego a la Olimpiada Mexicana de Matemáticas en Chihuahua (OMMCH) cuando aún estaba en secundaria y 13 de edad, en un área donde la mayoría han sido hombres simplemente repasemos la historia: Euclides, Tales, Euler, Gauss, Fibonacci, Cantor… y aun así en el 2007 formó parte del grupo de 6 alumnos de todo el estado que van al Concurso Nacional, siendo la única mujer de la delegación Chihuahuense, además de ser la primera en hacerlo desde el 2004 y la primera de todo el estado de nivel secundaria en lograr tal hazaña. Hoy, tres años después aquí la tienen esperando otro examen estatal con amplias posibilidades de repetir hasta el Nacional y porque no, hasta llegar al Internacional. Sé el trabajo duro que realizan, a veces juntándose entre 4 y 8 horas diarias para resolver problemas de geometría, teoría de números y combinatoria.
