[Español] Los escribas han existido desde hace milenos, hay indicios de su trabajo desde el Imperio Romano y aun más allá hasta tiempos de Mesopotamia, la cual consideramos como la primer cultura conocida de la humanidad como tal. Han tenido muchos nombres, incluyendo calígrafo, cursor, scriba y su variación actual más conocida en la palabra escriba. El trabajo de un escriba consistía principalmente en copiar manuscritos muchos de ellos de índole religioso, aunque también llegaban a escribir cartas y llevar numerosos registros.
Juanita trabaja precisamente en un pequeño lugar donde se reproducen copias, la mayoría educativas; lleva haciendo esto alrededor de 13 años atendiendo a muchos alumnos de forma cotidiana de sol a sol, por lo que es una mujer muy querida, además por su trato siempre alegre, amable y una maravillosa sonrisa que ilumina su rostro todo el tiempo. El darme cuenta de tan enorme impacto social que ella realiza a través de su forma de servir y voluntad de ayudar a otros me llena de orgullo poder retratarla como una Gente de la Frontera. ■
[English] The scribes have been around for millennia, there is evidence of their work since the Roman Empire and far until the time of Mesopotamia, which we consider as the first known culture of mankind as such. They have had many names, including calligrapher, cursor, scriba and their best known current variation on the word scribe. The work of a scribe consisted mainly in copying manuscripts many of them of religious nature, but they also wrote letters and kept many records.
Juanita works in a small place where they reproduce copies, most of them educational, she has been doing this work for 13 years giving service to many students on a daily basis from sunrise to sunset, making her a very dear woman, also because she always does this job with happiness, friendliness and has a wonderful smile that lights her face all the time. I realized the enormous social impact she has through her way of serving and her will to help others makes me proud having her portrayed as a People of the Border. ■
