Angel

At the peak of park I came across this little angel, he has Down syndrome one of the most common congenital conditions caused by having an extra chromosome, 47 instead of 46 (I'm not an expert in genetics but the regular even number is because half of them are provided by the mother and the other by the father), having one more chromosome gives them special characteristics, like superheroes.

He was visiting the place with his family and when he saw me taking photos of the waterfall he approached and touched my shoulder, then I turned around and when I saw him I asked: "would you like me to take your photo?" He replied "yes" and he immediately got on the side of the fence with the waterfall in the background, so all I had to do was focus.

There is more help and information about the Down syndrome available today, if you know someone special that requires attention try to guide them to appropriate centers and therapy, proper education always improves the life of any human being. In Chihuahua there is the Down Institute, the Down Syndrome Coalition of El Paso or the National Down Syndrome Society across the US and the European Down Syndrome Association for specifics of any country in Europe. ■

Monday

I [love] Juarez | Yo [amo] Juarez

[English]
Cool people + Cool t-shirts = Cool photo

This weekend I meet Monica, Blanca and Manolo; as I walked by their spot Monica approched to ask if I wanted to give a feeling... it happens that they are part of Bienvenido a Juarez, Tierra Roja or Welcome to Juarez, Red Land; which is a project with the idea of collecting feelings, each one embodied in a square meter of fabric, like an old sheet, curtain or tablecloth, about the city or anything in our head that we want to express or reflect to unite, sew and show them all at the end.

It is remarkable that a group of people get together without asking for something, investing their own time, material (giving paint, brushes and pencils) and a bunch of will and desire to make something extraordinary and change the world. I wish you the best on your project.

They finally convinced me to express in a fabric, which I exchanged for this photo. ■

Personas chiditas + Playeras chiditas = Foto chidita

Friday

Artisan | Artesano

[English]  I ran into this little boy while at a local street, he accompanies his mother and together they sell beautiful handmade earrings and bracelets which they display on a table by the street, they are of all kind of shapes and colors. Try to stop by someday, you will like their antisanry.

I just love the way he smiled and the innocence reflected by his eyes; I could not resist taking this portrait of him and I knew since I saw his image on the camera that it was going to be the first of this series. ■
